Environmental Policy
This policy applies to all kaliber5 employees. It describes how we keep the environmental impact of our work low. As a software service provider without production, our environmental impact arises mainly from energy consumption (computers, servers), hardware and travel.
1. Working arrangements
kaliber5 works entirely remotely. There is no office that has to be heated, lit or commuted to every day. Meetings with clients and within the team take place by video conference.
2. Digital processes
Quotes, invoices, contracts and documentation are created, sent and filed digitally. We avoid printing.
3. Hosting
We run our servers with hosting providers in data centres in Germany. When selecting and renewing hosting, we take the energy efficiency and energy source of the data centres into account.
4. Hardware
Company devices are used for as long as they serve their purpose. Decommissioned devices are handed over to municipal recycling centres for proper recycling.
5. Travel
Business trips only take place when a meeting cannot be held by video, and in practice they are rare. kaliber5 does not travel by air. Within Germany, we preferably travel by train.
6. Targets
- Business trips remain the exception; there is no air travel.
- Company devices are used for at least five years, provided they remain technically suitable.
- Whenever hosting is re-tendered or renewed, the provider's energy efficiency and energy source are checked.
7. Responsibility and review
Responsibility lies with the management: Ulf Schmidt-Dumont, ulf.schmidt-dumont@kaliber5.de. The policy is reviewed once a year and adjusted where necessary. Every employee confirms once a year that they have read it.
